Miracles in Life

The Year 2016

This is the third admission for Mr Lee due to abdominal pain this year. He was diagnosed to have renal cell carcinoma back in 2013 when he came to see me due to abdominal discomfort with hematuria (blood in the urine).

He was in great pain after the cancer relapsed even though he has undergone chemotherapy after nephrectomy under our oncologist.

Physicians’ stories

Cancers kill people in many ways. It could cause ferocious pain to your body and wreak havoc on your sanity. Severe illness wasn’t life altering, it was life-shattering.

“ There was no miracle, doctor, the cancer relapsed!” Mr Lee grew more depressed towards the end of his illness. He lived the last few months of his life in mounting anguish and fear of death.

He finally died in agony after 2 weeks during his fourth admission in 2016.

The Year 2019

Mr Ang , a 77-year old man, was admitted again due to abdominal pain. He was diagnosed to have stomach cancer in 2018 when he presented to me with abdominal pain and loss of weight.

He refused further treatment because he thought he had lived a good life. Although towards the end of his illness, he suffered a gargantuan amount of pain but he always stayed positive.

“ Dr. It is a miracle for me to survive longer than one year! I am very grateful you help me along the way!” Mr Ang was on his deathbed,” I just hope I have a painless death.”

He passed on peacefully in 2019 with all his family members around him.

Albert Einstein once said, ” There are two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle.”

Be positive in life, especially during this Covid-19 pandemic period. Take care my friends.
