Monthly Financial Update August 2020

Yes, I am still saving as usual towards my financial independence. People hate saving! We were born and taught in school to consume and buy stuff to satisfy our desires.

Financial Update August 2020

‘Work like a doctor and live like a monk!’ is my motto! I work hard and I have very few desires. Materialism orgasm does not stimulate my senses anymore. I lead a simple life and I am very happy with what I have.

For me, waking up the next morning is a blessing for me. Life is unpredictable and I just learned that my friend I knew 24 years ago in my university time passed away 10 years ago due to leukemia.

Income

I am still getting more than MYR10k passive income from my Malaysian and Singaporean stocks and REITs investment. It might look very rewarding to get this kind of passive income but I am sitting on a capital loss of more than 15% on my Singaporean REITs investment due to a few lousy purchases a few years ago.

Expenditure

I managed to save a total of 59.71% of my income this month. My expenditure on each item is as below

Mum pocket moneyMYR2000
DonationMYR350
FoodMYR927.04
GroceryMYR459.91
FacemaskMYR100
CleanerMYR480

Entertainment/HotelMYR549
TotalMYR7641.86
Saving Rate59.71%

Yes, we managed to go to KL for a 3D2N Sunway Lagoon trip in August. The package we bought was priced at MYR549 ( MYR499+MYR 50 because we opted a hotel room facing the theme park with a surcharge of MYR50).

My kids really enjoyed the trip and we didn’t spend much on others except meals.

My other expenses in August was MYR1154.69 ( about MYR800 went to Bluehost) because I started another website holidaysdialysis.com to help traveling dialysis patients to locate dialysis centers and nephrologists around the world.

I also spent MYR80 to buy a domain name as investment and hope to sell it in 3 years.

I gave away MYR350 to help a student from my secondary school who was having financial difficulties due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
